One thing that my whole family liked to do together was watch television. We always had a movie night. The genre would be an action-adventure, thriller or something that made you cry. I was into the action adventure movies and television shows. I loved Wonder Woman, The Incredible Hulk, Superman and Batman. I was always rooting for the underdog, because I loved a good comeback story and I wanted people to win. I think that’s why I became a teacher, because I want everyone to realized their true potential. It’s a little frustrating for me to see someone want to quit when things get a little tough. To me that’s when you have to dig deeper to find that extra bit of strength and pull yourself up to that next level.
One of my favorite movies that relates to this is ROCKY IV. Rocky was in the ring with Ivan Drago, Rocky was getting his butt whooped, he could’ve through in the towel at any point but he kept fighting and fighting, digging deeper and deeper. He fought with every bit of strength he had to pull off the win. Rocky fought so long and hard that he wore out the enemy and won respect of a whole country. That has been my motto: fight hard for what you want even when you don’t see a way out.
Today I got to meet a childhood movie hero of mine. I became so star struck and turned into a bright eyed enamored little girl. I was walking from a business meeting with my advisor and as she was talking I glanced over to my left and saw a man opening his car door. My eyes got huge like saucers, my mouth dropped open and I screamed so loud as if I was at a rock concert and I said, ” Ooooo Myyyy Goddddd, MR. STALLONE!!!” The funny thing about it is he was only 6 feet away and what is even funnier to me is, he didn’t even flinch at my howling at him. I continued to say, “CAN I HAVE A PICTURE WITH YOU??!” Haha he calmly says, “ok.” My Russian friend takes SEVERAL pictures and proceeds to tell Mr. Stallone that the Russians love him. He smiles and gives a laugh. That whole interaction was so surreal. I Love Rocky! and I’ve always had a crush on Mr. Stallone!
