First Year Anniversay

July 2018, marked the one year anniversary of The Lamesha Vine Effect.  It has been a fantastic journey thus far. I have designed workshops, hosted special events, trained clients under my new program, sold new merchandise and released my first dance exercise video.  I am so thankful for all of the opportunities and for everyone that has been on this ride with me. Wow!, It’s been awhile since our last conversation. Four months to be exact. Thank you for sticking around.

January I had a winter event for kids.  Now this May, I am having a spring event just for you.  This spring event will focus on my signature power moves. I will teach you how to execute them properly to tone your body and increase your stamina. I will also guide you through the most exciting dance activities that will build your confidence and empower you.

All I ask is that you leave your inhibitions at the door. Once you enter the studio I want your insecurity walls to come down; so that you can have the ultimate transformation. A positive and exhilarating transformation of the mind and body. This is an experience you do not want to miss. Bring your friends, have a night out and enjoy the magic!

“Sunday Family Fun Day”

When I grow up I want to be just like THAT kid!…Kids are the most amazing creatures on God’s earth.

I recently hosted a Sunday Family Fun Day at  Bay Clubs Santa Monica and children were everywhere.  I was told that the turn out was the biggest event the club had so far.  It was a one hour event with kids crafts and a hip hop dance class provided by yours truly.  At the beginning I walked around to observe the children in their playful environment.  Some children were making snowman art,  writing encouraging words on the mirrors of the studio,  running around or simply hiding behind their parents.  I introduced myself to one of the dads and he introduced his lovely daughter ViVi. ViVi, was approximately 3 years old. I said to her, “Hi ViVi!” she looked at me like I had 3 heads.  I reached my hand out to shake her hand and said “nice to meet you” Again, she innocently looked at me and said with her eyes, “uh no, please move”  When I grow up I want to be just like that kid.  She stood her ground. She was feeling a certain way in that moment and she let it be known politely as possible, that she wasn’t having it.  I laughed and said, “ViVi, by the end of the day I will get you to say something to me.”

A few minutes later I gathered all the children and their parents around to start the dance portion of the event.  The parents were excited but the kids wanted to assess the situation before they fully engaged.  Soon enough everyone was able to get out of their shell and have fun, even ViVi.  At one point I witnessed a special moment.  Two of the mothers who took my cardio dance class while pregnant, brought the little gems who were in their lovely belly.  One of the little gems named Shayla, was around 18 months, she  didn’t have a care in the world,  she was dancing around doing her own thing having a blast and didn’t want anyone to mess up her groove.  I loved watching her and when I grow up I want to be just like that kid.  Cameron, who is 15 months old had the biggest smile and the cutest little laugh. His mother Sharon, informed me that he is such a happy baby because she took my cardio dance classes while pregnant. My dance classes made her happy, thus making him happy. Dance is amazing, isn’t it?

All in all, the event was a success and they are looking forward to the next Family Fun Day.  Oh, and I never got ViVi to say anything to me, but I could tell she had fun and that is all that matters.

“Merry The Night 2016”

This summer I celebrated my birthday and I invited one of my cardio dance students, Suzanne to my birthday dinner.  We had such a great time that we decided to get everyone together every six months to let our hair down. So last night Suzanne hosted our “1st Annual Merry The Night” holiday party! We all gathered at The Wilshire Restaurant in Santa Monica. Everyone arrived one by one in their snazzy outfits. Hair done, and make-up on fleek. It was nice to see everyone all cleaned up. I say this, because all the guests were my cardio dance students from Bay Clubs Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades and Canoga Park. Normally, we only see each other in the gym sweaty, hair a mess and wearing tights. We all laughed, had great conversations and enjoyed exquisite entrees. I ordered the “Milk and Honey” Duck Breast, with wild rice, yogurt, herbs, carrot romesco, and duck jus. It was ok, but if I were to order it again, I would make sure it was well done and not medium rare.

One thing that I can say about last nights holiday party is that everyone brought something different to the table. Whether its a different upbringing/culture, a unique career, a loveable quirkiness, shyness or what have you. The one thing that forged us all together was the love of dance. During the week we all dance together in my class and after awhile, you start to build a bond with each other. This is one of the reasons why I love doing what I do,  I get to bring people together, who would not normally hang out.  I have said it before and I will say it again, Dance is a universal language. It’s Thanksgiving and I wanted to share why I am thankful.

I am of course thankful for my family and my health, but I’m also thankful for the talents that God has given me to share with you. I’ve always known I was meant to do something special with my talents, I just didn’t know what I was meant to use it for.

So about 8 years ago I tried to create, brand and market my own company. I mapped out this outline of what I wanted my company to be, I researched and figured how much money I should sell my merchandise for and how much money I would make in return. What I realized from all that research is that it’s hard work trying to get a business off the ground by yourself.  There is no instant fix or easy route to be successful, you have to actually put in hard work. My idea was to create dance DVDs. I knew I had something special and I wanted to share it. But without proper funding, trustworthy and a hard working team, that dream sat on the back burner for 8 years.

Last year in 2015, something in me said, “this is the year your project goes public.” I was determined. When I put my mind to something, I tend to get it done. So I worked hard on building my brand, by building my body and extending my dance program to the masses. I did master classes to raise money for production of my dance workout video. I hired dancers and a videographer. I was so happy and thankful for those that gave generously.  I made the dance workout video and I was ready to sell.  But the powers that be intervened.  Someone saw the mistake I was about to make and helped me rethink my marketing approach.

So for the past year, I’ve had to start from scratch. We are now in the latter stages of my project, which is the hardest part. Funding. Once I get the right amount of funds, it will be a snowball effect. I’m looking forward to 2017 and making my long awaited dream come true. I can not wait for everyone to experience “LAMESHA”-a new, fun and effective way to dance yourself into shape. I am also thankful for you all, because you will always be my motivation to use the talent I was giving to make the world happy and healthy.


You Have To Start Somewhere

  • Everyone has heard of the “Freshman 15”, well I gained 15+lbs after high school. As I entered college I was heavy and very much uncomfortable in my skin. I would look in the mirror and barely recognized myself. While In college I began dancing again, but did not lose the weight because as college students we rarely if ever eat the right foods for our bodies. I would stuff my face with pizza, hamburgers, fries, fried chicken, cakes and sodas. It doesn’t matter how much you work out, if you are not eating the right foods that weight is not going anywhere. It was not until after college that I started to focus on my fitness and nutrition.
  • One of the reasons why I became serious about my fitness was because I wanted to audition for the Dallas Maverick Dancers. They have a certain body image they look for and at the time, my body was definitely not it. I needed help. I needed some guidance and motivation. This is when I began to turn to exercise workout tapes. And yes, you heard correctly “tapes”, there were no DVDs at the time. I came across a few workout tapes, but the only workout tape that got my athletic mojo going was, Karen Voight. This woman’s workouts were hardcore and so was her body. She challenged me and she kept me motivated. I was able to trim down and lose some weight just in time for the Dallas Maverick Dancers audition.
  • I’m sure you’re wondering, did I make the dance team? The answer is No. So I moved to LA instead and the rest is history. Now I am here to inspire you and help you on your fitness journey. Oh yea and Karen Voight and I now teach our exercise programs at the same gym. My class is scheduled right after hers and I smile to myself everytime I see her.
